Nathan Smith of Canada wins pursuit. Martin Fourcade gets the big crystal globe

Martin Fourcade became the holder of four consecutive big Crystal Globes. The biathlete from France finished 4th in men’s pursuit, but this was enough to become the leader of the overall standings of this season.

Nathan Smith of Canada had the first World Cup victory in his sport career. The biathlete from North America missed only 1 target on this windy day. The favorite of this World Cup Benedikt Doll of Germany finished 2nd.

Fourcade and Shipulin both with two missed targets on the last shooting were battling for the podium. However, in a sprint through the final meters of the race Anton Shipulin took third place and became the bronze-medalist.

“I am very glad to be the first athlete in the history of biathlon that holds 4 consecutive big Crystal Globes. Nonetheless, I’ll try to do my best tomorrow in mass-start to finish this season on a high note”, — said Fourcade to the media centre of the World Cup Final.

It is to be noted that the stands of Alexander Filipenko Winter Sport Centre were full with biathlon fans. More than 10 000 spectators came here to watch pursuit.
