The main trophies of the season – the big Crystal Globes – were presented to the world’s best biathletes Martin Fourcade and Darya Domracheva by the head of Ugra Natalia Komarova that was watching the last races of the competitions standing on the spectators’ stand of the Winter Sport Centre.
In her interview the acting governor of the region thanked the Olympic champion Olga Zaytseva for choosing Khanty-Mansiysk as a venue for her farewell ceremony.
“Olga Zaytseva was very grateful to Ugra and I also thanked her for choosing Khanty-Mansiysk as a place to celebrate a new era in her life. She finished her professional sport career in such a friendly place like Ugra,- stated Natalia Komarova.- This fact makes me very happy. I think she gave credence to us. This is good to understand that so many people feel Ugra like home”.
The governor has also told the journalists about the athlete she was supporting these days.
“It would be very strange for me to say some other thing, — smiled Natalia Komarova,- we rely on Anton Shipulin! We were supporting him and he was equal to our expectations. He just needed a little bit more luck to win the Crystal Globe. We are always ready to support him. He is our athlete”, — said the head of the region.
It is to be noted that this World Cup became the most visited one in the history of Khanty-Mansiysk. Around 13 000 people has attended the last day of the competitions. Whose you were not able to buy tickets for the final races were watching them standing along the biathlon track. The athletes say that the level of organization of this World Cup was on the highest level.
