The first charter flight from Finland has landed in the capital of Ugra this evening. The team of Russia was the first to get off the plane.
The ceremonial welcoming party was organized in the international sector of an airport. Athletes were greeted with traditional Russian round loaf, Siberian food and accordion playing.
«As a rule, my performance in Khanty-Mansiysk was rather good. There’s a very nice track here, very well done. No matter if it is the World Cup or the National Championships, the organizers always do their work on a very high level», — said the Olympic medal-winner.
He confessed that he still have strength for this World Cup and is ready to fight to the end. «You always feel more comfortable at home, I am very glad to be back in Russia, I am in a good mood and looking forward to the races», — said Evgeniy Garanichev to the official press-centre of the competitions.
He confessed that his plans for the races in Ugra are very big. «In Khanty-Mansiysk I will try to perform as good as possible. I want to finish this season successfully, on a high note», — admitted Anton Shipulin.
The Olympic champion said that he feels more comfortable to ski in “European weather conditions”, that’s why he will have to adapt to the forecasted frosty weather together with other athletes.
It is to be reminded that BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup Final 2014/2015 will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk on March’16-22. Around 200 athletes from 27 countries will participate in the competitions. The program of the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk includes 6 men’s and women’s races in 3 disciplines: sprint, pursuit and mass start. The official Closing Ceremony and the awarding of World Cup trophies will be held on March’22 in the Tennis Centre of Ugra.
