KAISA MAKARAINEN WINS WOMEN’S SPRINT IN UNEASY WEATHER CONDITIONS

Kaisa Makarainen of Finland is the winner of women’s sprint of the Biathlon World Cup Final. Her main rivals in the race was the current Total Score leader Darya Domracheva from Belarus.

Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier managed to join the two favorites of the race on the podium. While athletes from Finland and Germany have missed one target each in shooting, the three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva missed both in prone and in standing. At finish she was around 15 seconds back.

In Russian team the best result was shown by Ekaterina Yurlova. She was 17th at finish. The wind was strong today during the race. Maybe this is the reason of many problems with shooting.

“I am very satisfied with the race, it’s good that I had only one missed target”, — says the winner. — “The weather was not good, wind was strong. Before the race I was working on my psychological condition after the World Championships to feel confident on the track».

After the victory of Makarainen the gap between her and the leader of the Total Score Darya Domracheva has shortened. The winner of the big Crystal Globe will be defined in the final races.
